A 1/4-inch AR500 steel plate is rated to stop most common handgun calibers, including 9mm, .45 ACP, and .357 Magnum, when used in appropriate target or armor applications. It is not certified for rifle-caliber rounds at close range. For industrial wear applications, 1/4-inch AR500 provides excellent abrasion resistance against aggregate, gravel, and moderate impact materials.
